WWIIOL is an immersive battlefield experience. Its one of the very few MMO's that still requires teamplay and coorporation to succeed in. It is not counter strike, where one player can fight alone. Its not a FPS where you recieve unrealistic health and over powered weapons. Its a simulator, a battle field simulator. The only one available. Agree, the graphics arent the best. But, since when did graphics make a good game.
Its challenging, hard to learn, but as stated before join a squadron and the unassailable seeming learning curve becomes much easier. Good squadrons will have regular training sessions to help you get accustomed a lot quicker. But the two biggest skills you can develop with WWIIOL is patience and teamwork, get them and you will find it is one of the most rewarding games on the market.
Ground unit weapons are easy to learn. Unlike majority of FPS games, WW2OL has gravity affects on rounds. Not to mention you'll need to consider other variables such as the direction your target is moving, in relations to your position; target speed, distance, elevation, weapon type and most important of all ... latency. All of which must be considered to determine the angle of the weapon and lead distance. It took me about 3 months to master the rifle + others, it becomes second nature and you'll be accused of cheating/exploiting lol. Vehicles/Armored units require tactics on your behalf. You know where they are spawned in at and you know where their target is. Point A to point B, question is, where do you place yourself to get alot of kills between those two points. Watch how they setup before and during a town attack ... it's really basic / cookie cutter tactics.
I haven't played in a couple years. But did Beta back in the days, from beta and too what they have now, not top 10.
Thanks for taking another look at the game. I always appreciate when I can get some feedback and see if I can incorporate it into our plans.
WWIIOL IS a difficult game. It is primarily a simulation architecture designed as a game for sophisticated wargamers. We're always trying to make the game more appealing to the casual gamer while still trying to keep the realism that drove our initial design.
If I could suggest anything to the new player it would be to use the squad recruiting pop up and play with many squads until you find the right group.
WWIIOL is the hardest game you'll ever play. It's also the hardest game to leave and I've been playing online since the old never winter nights on BBS. yeah I'm old. One thing you need to do is pick a squad when you start. Just about any squad (guild) will help you learn the game as quickly as one possibly can. Many have their own web-sites. One other thing. Get TEAM SPEAK and learning becomes even easier. Pick any squad you want, there is a recruiting forum on the game forums. Just don't blame "The 3rd" if you die a lot while playing Allied
Indeed this game need more players but it isn’t suited for every player. That’s why its niche indeed. We hope you can understand this cause you’re top 10 list is even shameless copied by a Dutch Gaming magazine. And it seems like they didn’t do their own research but stating you’re opinion as facts. These kind of things are causing chain reactions wich can benefit the existance of a game or simply not.
We can stand critics on the game but it needs to be fair. If an average gameplayer can’t play the game because its too diffficult, allright then its not for the average player, true. This means there could be others interested in this game who are not average gamers. The game was never created for the average gamer but for the gamer who wanted something special. So depending on the goals of the developers its a bust or not.
Allright Clipso, maybe we were too harsh on ya. True, we shouldn’t attack you like that. The fact most of us attacked the site is because off the fact that on your list were some things you stated as facts. For example the Multicrewing and categorizing WWIIOL under MMORPG etc. It seemed also that you didn’t took the time to let any experienced player show you the depths of the game. That’s very sad.The average player of this community is very dedicated and loves the game despite it shortcomings and flaws wich we’re all aware off. We won’t deny them.
I will have time to assist in any action from tanks, to mortars to planes (of which I am still useless after years).
I will try to hook you up with a squad so you can at least get a chance to glimpse the combined op / squad nature of this game.
I would expect anyone else here who has posted to also help you so please just personal message them in game if they are on. Let us know your game name and we will keep an eye out for you.
It is certainly true what you say. This is a niche game and it is very difficult.
The best way to have a chance of falling in love is by asking and receiving help. The game has it's faults but once hooked has a retention rate that is unbelievable. Been stuck here for 4.5 years.
Select the text channel and custom put in my name badger77 see if I am on. Will always help. Note this week is live beta test so action may be lower and less organised but I hope you get a true feel for the game. It's not for everyone but does have it's unique and fantastic points.
The absolute lie in your article is that you 1. need crew members to use a tank or ship and 2. that you have long to seek for battles. 1. Absolutely every vehicel can be used alone and 2. their are little breaks cuz of organizing new attacks, before and after a battle but this don t take longer than 10-15 mins
