Memorable game moments

What are the greatest memories of your gaming life? We all have memories, good or bad, that you remember forever from games. This includes things you see people do, things you did in the game, and cool things the game just did.
1) Bucky O?Hare (NES) ? This amusing game was an adaptation of the cartoon series. It is a side scrolling action shooter. My Brother was a fan of the show and we managed to find a copy. Clipsco and I spent a good bit of time laughing at my Brother anytime he would have trouble in the game. After awhile, he got so mad and was like, ?Here think you can do better.? Then Clipsco and switched off each level and beat it in one sitting, I think with out continues as well.
2) Castlevania (NES) ? I had the hardest time defeating the Grim Reaper for some reason. Normally he just beats me down or I get really close and make a mistake and die. However, this time was different. I had him down to three life bars and I had half my life. I jumped up threw a boomerang, threw another at max height, threw one halfway down and swung my whip just before hitting the ground. This was perfect. Then just before the first boomerang hit him the game froze. I tried taking the game out and blowing on it and everything. Nothing worked so I had to restart the NES. On the plus side, I got good enough to beat the game without being killed once.
3) Ninja Gaiden 3 (NES) ? I went to rent this game, and the guy at the counter said, ?You know, you can only rent games for one night?? (Yes this was some time ago). I said? ?Yes. I want to test the game to see if I want to buy it later.? He proceeded to tell me for the next five minutes or so that it?s pointless to rent it since I couldn?t beat it in one night. He just wouldn?t accept the fact that I wanted to try a game before buying it. Well what happens when I get it back? Not only do I beat it, I manage to beat it about 10 times that night. It would only take me about 40 mins to an hour to beat it.
4) Hokuto No Ken Fist of the North Star (Coin-Op) ? This was the arcade that had the six or eight pads that would swing out and you could hit. This was great. The best part was trying to pull off Ken?s finishing move.
5) King of Fighters 95 (Coin-Op) ? I was playing my friend?s cousin and he beat down the first two members of my team. All I had left was my anchor, Mai Shiranui. I managed to beat his whole team down with just her. I even ended it with her maxed out special move the Cho Hissatsu Shinobibachi (Super Deadly Ninja Bees).

Hurm most of my funnest exp in games as been at the arcade...
1) Mortal combat, when I hit someone with my scorpion harpoon and yelled "get over here" for the first time... My knees got weak and I about messed my pants. Then me and my friends thought the game was so unbelieveably awesome that we decided to adopt the characters into the AD&D ruleset and played with the idea for about a week.
2) Killing Instinct, When some schmuck who had been there every day and night since it landed in the arcade hit me with the finishing move while playing orchid. When she flashed Jago and he died of a heart attack, I allmost got wood.
3) Soul Calaber, when the manager of the arcade came out and bet me $20 I couldn't beat him. Not only did I beat him but he never touched me. When he realized that he didn't have the $20 he gave me $50 in tokens...
4) Playing UT2004, and learned exatly what it was like to be a flack whore killing bots and players over and over non-stop for 35 kills in a row... hearing the anouncer going nuts in the background about the killing spree was awe inspiring. People were laughing so hard that they coudn't play. Needless to say, I won that match with flying colors...
Yes damnit... Im a twitcher...

I remember you and Killer Instinct, you were really good always landing that 64 hit combo with Jago -- made me mad. lol.
I think some of my favorite times were (in no particular order);
1) Golden Eye on Nintendo 64 in the Barracks with all the marines every night playing deathmatches. That was FUN!
2) Beating Versengen in Killer Instinct for the first time
3) Spending countless hours on Nintendo 64 playing Mario Cart
4) Pong on Atari, I was absolutely LOST in this basic game for months and months and months.
5) LORD (Legend Of the Red Dragon), BBS Door game -- I spent $300 one month in long distance calls dialing up to this BBS that had about 30 people playing LORD, just so I could beat them all, specially since I was only 13 at the time.
6) RoD, Realms of Dispair, my first MUD -- I also helped code the 3rd version of the codebase SMAUG with the creator Derek. To this day this mud still boasts over 400 people online at any given time.
7) UO, Ultima Online, killing my first player on this graphical game when it first came out was an extreme adrenaline rush that I had never felt before. It was all new, I was use to killing other people in the text world but something about having graphics to display the people made it that much more intense, not to mention that people were unsuspecting of it. Player killing was relatively new to this game at the time, heck the game had only been out for less than a month.
8 ) Duke Nukem, lol The countless hours killing people in the Lan Parties Versengen and I use to throw (okay so it was only him, me and his brothers -- pfft, still a party).

Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition
- The first time I beat Hattorikun with Vega. Hattorikun was/is a Ryu master. A close second is when I beat SF2CE with Dhalsim getting a perfect against M. Bison twice. That caught all of us by surprise because I only played Dhalsim on a dare and beat the game on one play. Easy to do with Vega, even easier with Dhalsim.
The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
- Everyone in the house was racing to finish this game first. I got on a roll one night and finished up the game.
ActRaiser
- Memorable, but not for a good reason. After almost getting shot up driving through the projects in Savannah, we bought this game with our hard earned money. We figured we had days of gameplay ahead. I started at 3 AM. I finished at 6 AM. We just stared in disbelief. What a waste.
Star Fox: Assault
- Two hard-core gamers came over to my house to challenge my eight and seven year-olds. One of them fancied himself a Star Fox master. We jacked up the kills for the contest to ten and took away the demon launcher to eliminate the luck factor, since the master "didn't want to get beat by the small fry because of luck." 13 matches later one of the youth had 3 wins, and he wasn't the "master." My eight year-old had 10, many of them ending before the "master" could get a single kill.

Oh and one more...
Killer Instinct 2
- I was an assistant youth pastor and we had taken the youth to a pizza place. There was a KI2 game there. The youth were going back and forth with it and one of them yelled over, "Hey, why don't one of you old people come take us on?" or something to that effect. So I walked over, slotted my quarters, and chose Tusk. That choice drew snickers and a, "He must really not know how to play if he chose Tusk." After I had gone through every single member of the youth group twice without a loss and then won the game, I looked over and said simply, "That was easy."

Oh yea I remember the ol Buck O'Hare game
*wipes tears from eyes*
That one was a classic.
Otherwise I think the only time I felt such pleasure was the time I pull an all weekender to finally beat
R-Type Delta
- I swear that game gave me the arthritis I have today.

So I was thinking about some of the old games. I think the moment in gaming that I will never forget is playing Rainbow Six, Urban Ops with Clippy and the gang. I will forever remember the night Clippy yelled out "OH NO! JONESY! THEY GOT ME AAAAARGH!" just after Bill gatted him in the face with a fully automatic 12g shotgun with a small payload of Flechette rounds.
For some reason hearing Clippy yelling and laughing like that made the game much more than it was. I still wish from time to time that I could find Urban Ops, and all of the Rooster Mods and hold a LAN party via Hamachi (cool LAN via IP tool, a virtual LAN so to speek).

To this day, my crowning achievement as a gamer was beating Contra
without
using the cheat code for 30 lives.
I was 12 years old at the time, and I haven't been able to do it again since.

Late post? Yes, but I cannot let a post like this get out of my reach...
NBA Jams: Coin-Op
An old friend of mine and I were the absolute champs at that game. One of the first games to develop a record on that particular machine, we built ourselves an impressive 140 something game winning streak against human opponents. People from Hilton Head and Savannah came to beat us, and always walked away shaking their heads. The team of choice? Without a doubt, the Sacramento Kings, with Spud Webb.
We went to the Hilton Head mall one afternoon, and noticed there was a tournament for the game that had just recently ended. Of course we were looking for some new blood, and saw two gentlemen playing. We slotted up our quarters, and started to play. I specifically remember beating them so bad, I think currently the score was 93-22, that I would just look over and talk to my partner about work while schooling the guys. In the middle of the game, the guys couldn't believe they were losing so badly, they called their friends over and joked that the "makers of the game are here!" Who were these kids?
....the recent tournament champs.
Aliens vs. Predator: PC
Ah, the screams. The screams is what I miss the most from this game. Late at night, in the bowels of Signature Internet Solutions, Clipsco, Dev, and Versengen with a few others would play this game multiplayer with the lights off. It was a game of cat and mouse, with myself being the sole Alien, and the rest, fleshy humans. Lights out, and sound up, the last thing any of them would hear would be a hissing noise. I made it a point to hiss before I killed anyone, and after quickly chomping their heads, I could tell who it was I killed without seeing the death message, just by the scream. Clipsco was the most fun. While everyone else stayed in the pack, I could always tell which one was Clipsco because he'd always huddle himself in a corner and never look up. Clipsco would occasionally carry the flame thrower, and just for good measure, I would run around everyone in a circle because I knew Clipsco would hold down that fire button with all disregard for his teammates. Jumping immediately to the ceiling, I'd always have a good show watching flaming humans running around and slumping to the ground.

I just remembered two more:
Ultima Online: PC
A while after turning into a player killer, it was a well known thing that if yuo saw the OnC tag, you'd run. Either alive with your balls, or as a ghost. Either way, you were running. In any case, I remember just walking around, and happened to kill some poor sap. Being as bored as I was, I started recalling to some of the runes in his backpack (before they had runebooks). I came across a beautiful waterfall area, and decided to walk around. I noticed some text just off my screen, which said something to likes of "*kisses her neck softly*" I run up, and see two people with cloth on the ground, wine bottles everywhere, food, etc. having a "picnic" and getting romantic. So what would any murderer do? I killed him, and his little wench too to the screams of "Whhhhyyyyyyyyyyy!"
Call of Duty: United Offensive (PC)
Running the -=TIO=- clan in Call of Duty, and bringing our team to the top #1 spots in two different ladders, we entered a major tournament that brought the likes of professional gaming teams. There were 256 teams in that tournament, and we played a match game every Saturday. The first few matches went smoothly, until we came upon the quarter finals. We were scheduled to play a team sponsored by Logitech, a professional team by any means. So Clipsco and I practiced with the rest of the team. Practice, practice, practice is all we did for that entire week. The predictions came up that we were going to get stomped. After all this team was a heavy favor to make it to the finals.
Gameday came up, and our match didn't get the attention of the Shoutcast (Read: Play by Play live radio broadcast) because it was supposed to be seriously lopsided. We played our match, and won. I'll never forget the screams on Teamspeak after the final countdown went to 0:00, virtually Hi-5'ing everyone in there. After the match was played, the referee said that it was the best match he's ever had the chance to see. Normally, in a high stakes Capture the Flag match, the first team to score goes on the full defensive. Not us. I later made a timeline video of the match. You can view it here:
http://www.ignoblegaming.com/downloads/tio_atcmovie2.avi
*Note: You'll need the DivX codec to view it.
www.divx.com
You'll get your chance to see Clipsco in his hey-day at FPS games.
