Ok, strap on your seat belts. 2007 is shaping up to be an awesome year. And just to prove it, Hideo Kojima once again elegantly strolls to the front of E3 and produces the 15 minute trailer to Metal Gear Solid 4. What makes Kojima's epic series stand out in front of the rest of the pack is his ability to tell a story.

Now I've heard rumblings in the hills that say the video gaming industry is headed for a big crash.  Many people say that the graphics hardware just can't possibly get any better, and even if it does, all the old ideas for games are worn out.  To this I give a resounded "phooey"!

Folks, if I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times.  There are two, and only two elements that make a game fun and worth someone's dollar.  This holds true for pen and paper RPGs as well as video games.  First, the game play has to be engaging and fun.  Second, you have to have an engaging storyline.  Kojima has managed to do both in just about every single release of the Metal Gear series of games.

Now I know what you are thinking.... "But... but... but... MGS2 stunk!"  Again, oh foolish child.  You just don't get it do you?

MGS2's storyline is quite crucial to the plot of the entire series, as evidenced by the trailer for MGS4.  You can't imagine my squeal of delight as I saw in the last few cut scenes the return of the ninja being his usual bad self.  Furthermore when the ninja reveals his identity as RAIDEN!  Yes folks, the hated RAIDEN, main character from MGS2!  Oh the huge manatee!  Look at all the fanbois froth at the mouth when they realize just how awesome this character is, and how pivotal he is to the storyline.  RAIDEN... Grey Fox... Noooooo (insert Darth Vader yell here).

So all you little beatniks and rednecks who moaned and complained about MGS2, stow it.  Kojima has once again shown how to develop GREAT characters, GREAT storylines, GREAT games.  And oh yes, you will pay.  You..will..pay..  In fact, I'll bet you're the first one camped out in the line at the EB Games or the Toys R Us just to get your grubby little hands on a PS3 when it comes out.  You'll be the one with the blue sleeping bag, frothing at the mouth.
