Who would have thought it'd be the Swiss that would end the world?
Apparently, they've got the bright idea to use a Supercollider to create "mini Big Bangs" and "micro black holes" in order to study the origins of the universe and "find evidence of other dimensions." While this sounds cool, they've also calculated the probablilty that this thing could destroy the planet, which is about "10 to the minus 40" or "a 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 chance".
Now, we as gamers and sci fi movie watchers know what's going to happen. The very fact that they've calculated the chace of it destroying the Earth pretty much garuntees that the experiment is going to go horribly wrong and allow invaders from other dimensions to flood through the tear in the fabric of reality and inslave humanity. While an interesting prospect, I see one major problem...
We don't have a Save / Reload system...
According to the article the switch'll be flicked sometime next year, so my advice is to polish those HEV suits and stock up on Med Kits and Ammo. We may need them soon!
