Dragon magic introduces us to many new ways to uses dragons in the game as well as dragon spawns.  Some of these new ways include changes to a dragon’s breath weapon, new effects for fear checks, and over 15 new feats just for dragons and dragon kin.  This supplement is the most thorough yet at covering the different areas of magic (divine and arcane), psionics, invocations, soul melds, and pact magic. It also gives a bunch of new monsters for characters to befriend or fight.

Chapter 1 introduces us to 8 new dragon races and draconic class features- these are in place of regular abilities avail to regular classes. Then chapter one goes into the new feats breaking them down into 4 categories: ceremony, divine, draconic, initiate.

Chapter 2 introduces one new base class, the dragon aspirant, who gains dragon abilities as they advance. They get 2 good saves, poor attack progression, and learn draconic invocations.  The remainder of chapter 2 covers 7 new prestige classes for people seeking to become like dragons.

Chapter 3 brings into play 25+ new spells, 5 new psionic powers, 10+ new effects for adepts, 15+ new invocations, and 5+ soul melds. Over 10 new magic items for dragons, dragon kin, and dragon hunters to use in adventuring and in daily life are also included.

Chapter 4 gives us 11 new draconic monsters to fight and befriend. These beasties range from CR 3 to 13, plus some changes that can be made to make your dragons different from standard dragons and create whole lineages that follow these changes.

The final chapter, chapter 5: draconic campaigns, gives examples of how to use what you have read and play dragons effectively, especially the new types presented in this book. Also there is a mini adventure to get your dragon on.

This book impressed this reader enough to say WOW!!! Thank you WOTC for all the new content and expansion of dragon abilities and powers.  I hope WOTC will keep up this kind and level of support for the different groups of magic and abilities. On a scale of one to ten I have to give this book a solid 6 verging on a 6.5.
